Fulton County
Fulton County has 44 Lakes for your boating pleasure. After all, the northern half of Fulton County is in the Adirondack Park. Rensselaer County
With 37 miles of Hudson River front Rensselaer County is a prime launch and destination for river travelers and day-trippers as well. The Captain JP paddlewheel is docked in the City of Troy and sails both north and south from early Spring ‘til late Fall. In addition to general cruises, special parties and themed cruises are the order of the day. There are five official boat launches in Rensselaer County. Motorized boat launches can be found at the Schodack Island State Park and the City of Rensselaer Boat Launch at Forbes Avenue. Hand carried boat launches can be found at each of the Hudson River’s locks, the dams on the Hoosic River east of the Valley Falls hydro- electric plant (please use caution) the Buskirk Covered Bridge, and at Grafton Lakes State Park and Cherry Plain State Park 

 
Saratoga County
Kayaderosseras Creek spans 6.5 miles in Saratoga County, flowing through Ballston Spa, Malta and Saratoga Springs. It drains into Saratoga Lake. You can kayak or row in either direction. Put in on Arrowhead Rd. (Go east out of Saratoga Springs on Union Ave./Rt. 9P), turn right onto Crescent Ave., left on Arrowhead Rd. and go to the dead end. From the trailhead on the left, it is roughly 150 yards to the mouth of the creek. The Hudson River/ Champlain Canal starts in Troy and connects to Lake Champlain to the north in Whitehall. In Saratoga County you can put in at Lock #5 in Schuylerville. If you travel south from Schuylerville and go to Troy, you can connect to the Erie Canal system. There is a charge for boats larger than kayaks and canoes. Hudson River/Moreau State Park has a 5.5 mile route that is located in Corinth to the north and the Spier Falls Dam to the south. There’s a public boat launch at the bottom of the hill on Spier Falls Road, off Corinth Mountain Rd. 

 
Schenectady County
The Mohawk River is canalized throughout Schenectady County. Several public boat launches (Freemans Bridge Road, Route 5S in Rotterdam Junction, and at Lock 7 in Niskayuna) can be found where the boater, or jet skier, can enjoy beautiful vistas, historic remains of the old Erie Canal, water skiing and great fishing. Two Erie Canal locks (7 & 8) are located in the County and boaters can pass though them for a small fee. Restaurants and public parks can be found along this beautiful stretch too. Kayak and canoe rentals are available from May through October. 

 
Washington County
A trip into Washington County should include your boat, kayak, canoe or raft because there are miles upon miles of brooks, streams, ponds and lakes throughout the county.  Washington County’s prominent waterways and lakes include the Hudson River, Lake George, Lake Champlain, the Champlain Canal, Cossayuna Lake, Summit Lake, Lake Lauderdale, Pine Lake, Lake Nebo, and Hadlock & Copeland Ponds. Fishing enthusiast will want to include a cast into the Batten kill, Poultney and Mettawee Rivers which are renowned for trout fishing.

A float or paddle on the Batten kill will provide a close up view of Washington Counties four covered bridges that span the Batten kill.   Built in the Civil War era, four of the county’s covered bridges still remain, three of which are still in use--Rexleigh, Eagleville and Buskirk. The fourth, in Shushan, has been preserved as a museum.  Two outfitters Battenkill River Sports and Battenkill Valley Outdoors – located off Route 313 in the Town of Jackson offer rentals and sales of as well as pick up and drop off along the river.  Your adventure should include a stop in Shushan at the Gerogi for lunch.  The Mettawee River near North Granville is a 4.5 miles Class IV-V with great scenery at the bridge is a great spot for a photo.  www.granvillechamber.com
 
The Feeder Canal is a seven-mile Linear Park bringing water from the Hudson River to the Champlain Canal and is accessible by water, foot or bike. Paddle the  five miles from the beginning of the Canal at Feeder Dam to the takeout at Boat Basin Park on Martindale Avenue in Hudson Falls. The water is no more than 4 feet deep. www.feedercanal.com

The Champlain Canal in Washington County has many opportunities for docking boats while traveling along the canal.   Fort Edwards, docking facility is just north of Lock C-7 with adjacent picnic facilities. The Fort Edward Yacht Basin is west of Lock C-7 and has free water and electrical hook-ups for boaters and picnic facilities. Further north, at Lock 9 in Smith's Basin, provides access for kayaks and canoes. Continuing north to Fort Ann is a floating dock and access point to Buttermilk falls.

Pull in or put out in the Village of Whitehall, with a public boat launch site at Skenesborough Harbor Park.  The park has a waterside gazebo with barbecue facility and direct access to main street dining and shopping.  Don’t miss the free summer concerts on Friday evenings.

The Town of Dresden has a public boat launch and a 300-foot long wooden fishing pier
on the South Bay (Lake Champlain)  providing access to Lake Champlain and the Champlain Canal, located near the South Bay Bridge on NYS Route 22.

Washington County owns and operates two parks; Huletts Landing and Lake LauderdaleHuletts Landing is located on Lake George, the “Queen of American Lakes”, and has a canoe & small boat launch, as well as tennis courts. Huletts is on Route 6B, Sunset Bay Road in the Town of Dresden.  Lake Lauderdale, located on Route 22 in the Town of Jackson, is a 100-acre park with fishing and nature trails (no boat launch). Both parks include a playgrounds basketball, volleyball & horseshoes and are carry in and carry out.   The parks also have pavilions equipped with picnic tables, a BBQ pit, grills, electricity and a walk-in cooler. Plan an event at either lake call 746-2451 for reservations and fees. The Greenwich Town Beach is on State Route 29 is on the banks of the Batten Kill. The beach facilities include a pavilion, BBQ grills, volleyball net, half-court basketball, playground and, of course, swimming.
