Fulton County
No matter what the season, Fulton County offers 44 lakes of fishing pleasure. Fish for Walleye, Bass, Northern Pike, Trout, Perch, and Crappie. The most popular the "Great Sacandaga" didn’t begin life as a lake, but rather as a river simply passing through. However, the need to control the water flows of the Black and Hudson rivers, led to the damming of the Great Sacandaga. Stretching 29 miles long at points and 6 miles wide, it is ranked as one of the largest man-made lakes in the Northeast. Annually the state stocks the lake with 4 to 5 million walleyes. The Sacandaga lies adjacent to the Adirondack Scenic byway and is known for the world record Northern Pike. Once caught it weighed in at 46 pounds, 2 ounces and 52 1/2 inches long. Rensselaer County
The Hoosic River has a great variety of fish populations and several access points (catch and release only). The Hudson River (catch and release only) also provides an opportunity for different species, including some salt-water fish below the Troy Dam. It is said that some of the best striped bass fishing in the world can be had in the Hudson below the federal dam in Troy. Excellent trout streams include the Little Hoosic, Poesten Kill, Wynants Kill, Kinderhook Creek and Moordner Kill. Fishing is also allowed on the banks of the Tomhannock by special permit only (518) 237-0611. Lake fishing is also allowed with non-motorized boats in Grafton Lakes State Park and Cherry Plain State Park. 

 
Saratoga County
Saratoga Lake has some of the best bass in the country. Try it out for a few hours or a day. If you are a rower, kayaker or canoer, go to the Kayaderosseras Creek or to Fish Creek . Both can be accessed from Saratoga Lake. Put in at the NYS Boat Launch on Rt. 9P/Union Avenue. The lake is 8.5 miles long and 1.5 miles wide. The main body is 4.5 miles long and necks down another 4 miles into Fish Creek (which goes for 13 miles from the Lake to the Hudson River). The deepest spot in the lake is 96’. 

 
Schenectady County
The lower Mohawk River supports a popular high quality warm water fishery. Shore fishing is most popular and there are several parks where parking is easily available and the shore accessible. The River is noted for its small mouth bass fishing (the typical bass is 11 – 13",) Largemouth bass, Walleye, Tiger Muskies and occasionally Northern Pike and Chain Pickerel are commonly found in the River between Lock 7 and Lock 8. Rock bass, Yellow Perch, Bullhead, Bluegill and Pumkinseed are common to abundant in pools along this lovely stretch of the river in Schenectady County. 

 
Washington County
The different waterways, lakes and ponds of Washington County provide for plentiful fishing areas. Washington County borders the east side of Lake George. Hulett's Landing as well as Gull Bay provide boat access and rentals. Running parallel to Lake George is Lake Champlain. It is the fifth largest lake in the Northeast just behind the Great Lakes in size. Rent a boat in Whitehall and experience Lake Champlain as a fisherman's paradise. In addition the Champlain Canal, the Hudson River & Mettowee River have great fishing. In the southern end of the county there is Cossayuna Lake and the Battenkill River that is known for its trout fishing.
