Fulton County
Enjoy cross country skiing or snowshoeing on public and private ski trails. One of our trails is home to former Finland Olympian skier Olavi Hirvonen. Enjoy miles of groomed trails in the Rockwood State Forest on State Rt. 29, 9 miles West of Johnstown, or try any of our hiking trails for x-country skiing in the winter. Rensselaer County
The Pine Ridge Cross Country Ski Center on Plank Road in Poestenkill provides miles of groomed trails, as does Grafton Lakes State Park that has miles of trails specifically marked for Cross Country skiing. In addition, Schodack Island State Park in the southwestern part of Rensselaer County has trails riverside , while in the eastern part of the county, Dyken Pond and Cherry Plain State Park provide trails, and also encourage the snow-shoeing crowd. 

 
Saratoga County
Feel a part of history as you cross country ski in the Saratoga National Historical Park, site of the Turning Point of the American Revolution, in the Village of Stillwater on Route 32. There’s a 9 1/2 mile tour road as well as off-road flat and hilly surfaces to traverse. For a little country in the city, try the trails in the 2,100-acre Saratoga Spa State Park, just off Route 9/South Broadway in the City of Saratoga Springs. 

 
Schenectady County
From the NYS Thruway exit 25A, you are just a short ride from 30 km of groomed, track-set trails on 500 acres of land in western Schenectady County. The trails wind through woods, orchards and open fields, giving the skier a variety of terrain and beautiful panoramic views. Trials are rated from beginner to expert. Warming lodge, fireplace, refreshments and rentals are available. 

 
Washington County
Right after a good snow one can go almost anywhere in Washington County and find a great place to cross country ski. Once the Champlain Canal is frozen and has a fresh snow coating, it is a great skiing place. Many of our hiking trails are also open to the skier including Lake George Horse Trail, Pilot Knob and Inman Pond.
